Deciding on a University!

Updated: Jul 17, 2020

How long is one "supposed" to be at a community college? Because I was at mine, on and off, or 5 years! I really, honestly, didn’t think I’d be there so long. But there’s something to say about not always doing life conventionally, or the way pop culture might tell you.

It was the BEST start to my education.

Fall 2017: For the first semester, I hit a bunch of business and math classes at MCCC that could transfer to both UT and EMU, but then I had to decide on a college before I planned for my winter classes that year.

It's awesome how many classes can be planned for the several college options you have in mind, but eventually, a decision must be made!

I decided on EMU because I could follow their EMU and MCCC articulation agreement for business school, and get almost 2/3 of my classes completed at MCCC, not counting math classes. Phew.

(Seriously though, we have some GREAT education agreements, many colleges to choose from, and reasonably short commuting distances in southeastern Michigan!)

The rest of this blog is my journal entry during that school year.

"So, I had made my decision. And now, here I am.

One month from the winter semester being over at MCCC. I am taking a handful of summer classes, which are still covered by my choir scholarship, and then I will have taken every business class possible, and most math classes at MCCC, for transferring to EMU.

I have been super blessed to have gotten school paid for so far, and most of my classes completed at this fantastic community college.

When I start EMU in the fall, I’ll only have about 3 semesters left, give or take a little more with my minor. I’m still finalizing on what to concentrate on in business, but I’ve pretty much decided on marketing, so that I can get some expertise in the job world, and also learn how to market my own content.

I may go back later to get a teaching certificate to teach math and business in high schools, and my dream goals include teaching students about personal finances, or becoming a financial adviser one day, or writing and making YouTube videos about graduating and, after graduation, living life debt-free."

I can't wait to see where the future takes me.
