FINALLY... the semester was paid for, and ready to begin.
...and of course (because I'm, like, an overconscientious person), I wanted to make sure I had enough for the second semester of the year as well!
Mainly, I paid for that semester’s tuition with the EMU Regents Scholarship and PTK (Phi Theta Kappa) Scholarship, AmeriCorps Education Award from my internship with AmeriCorps and the National Park Service, and the SEOG grant and some of the Pell grant.
Then I used the rest of the Pell for monthly income and, more specifically, gas money, as I discuss in my blog HERE.
Plus my little bit of work study at the Marketing office occasional sub job at the library gave me more cash to use for socializing and save for Christmas. I’ve been saving some of it for next semester tuition too.
Taken from my journal entry around that time: "Next semester I’ll pay for college with Regents and PTK scholarship, SEOG and Pell, and some of the extra Pell I saved from this semester.
I think my AmeriCorps funds are depleted after this first semester. I have additional money saved for college in my bank, but would prefer not to use it for tuition nor regular income money. (I want someone else to pay for my schooling, via grants and scholarships!)
I pray I can get more work study hours next semester around my class hours. I def want to be able to go to a GOOD workout class (probs not Zumba), and MAYBE be in a club where I can network a bit, but I probs need to earn a bit more money before that.
Scholarships have opened up and are due February something for NEXT year, and I’m excited for those.
Should I get an internship next summer, or maybe do a spring class? ONLY PROBS if I have money left over that I CAN’T save until next year."
On and on I went in my planning and imagining. I call it marinating on ideas for the future.
It's often wise for college students to do that regarding college funds, but once the semester is taken care of, don't forget to bring your focus back to the present. That's where you really LIVE(;
Now, ready for school to start!
