On Writing Motivation

My Monday writing musings, with little editing. Enjoy(:

Going into 4 hours of writing work today. Wasn't ready for it.

Closing my eyes and just typing now bc my eyes are not focusing well together today and just messing with me (I have convergence insufficiency).

Ok so i remembered from that High Performance Habits book that it is best to work out of a place of joy. So, during the beginning of my four hours time, I ate some lunch... I was hungry and could get hangry soon so made sure to eat. Then I watched two motivational videos on YouTube specifically for authors.

The first one was fine, second was on Stephen King and how he was rejected so many times and depressed about his writing going nowhere, before a company accepted his Carrie manuscript,

(All the rejection publishers said that negative/dark utopian sci-fi didn't sell.... haha well now that's like all that sells!)

Plus his wife was his main encourager to JUST KEEP GOING.

Anywho, they were poor, living on close to nothing, him and his wife and 2 kids, 1 in a crib.

Several months after he finally got a publisher to accept his first book, with $2500 down, he got a call that he was receiving $200,000 because the paperbacks were selling!

He was overcome and sunk to the floor.

I cannot believe how motivated he must have been to keep writing on his next manuscript from then on out. Can you imagine his wife seeing her husband depressed, but still working hard at it, and then a year later he cannot wait to start his writing work day!"

Cool, interesting idea.

Lord, how can I get going on my writing and get going, get done, get accomplished? I love processing my everyday life through writing too. This was not even specifially going to be a blog. Thank you!

So then I put on a motivational music mix on YouTube, and like just wrote this that was on my mind to get started.

I can write. i WILL write until 6:00 pm and feel proud of myself for my work today.

Maybe I'll get "a bunch" of my debt-free college book blog posts out. I can do them conversationally, casually, and somewhat flippantly, and just put the time in. This is great.

Kara, u can do it. as Shia LaBeouf said, "JUST DO IT!"

I took about a half am hour psyching myself up for this. If I have set aside a writing time, I can allow myself this psych-up time, and also prayer time if and where and when it's need.

Or if I feel able, I'll just do the steady discipline... get the hours in. AMEN!
